Invictus Gaming take ESL One Kuala Lumpur qualifiers
The revamped Invictus Gaming took full revenge over Team Zero to claim the only spot for China to ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023.
Team Zero, who were responsible for iG’s knockout in the TI12 qualifier battle, entered the new season without making any changes to their roster. iG on the other hand, are aiming high with Du “Monet” Peng, Cheng “NothingToSay” Jin Xiang, Thiay “JT-” Jun Wen, Yap “xNova” Jian Wei, and Ye “BoBoKa” Zhibiao joining them in the post-TI12 shuffle.
Given the well-decorated veteran mix, the regional qualifiers for ESL One Kuala Lumpur seemed like a walk in the park for Invictus Gaming, who will be representing the Chinese region at the upcoming $1,000,000 tournament alongside Azure Ray. At the same time, their presence will also ensure that the Malaysian fans will have three of their country representatives to cheer for.
Both iG and Team Zero had to take the open qualifier road to Kuala Lumpur. Team Zero secured their sport in the closed qualifier leg from the first wave of open brackets, while iG had to go for another try in the second open qualifier leg. But once they reached the closed qualifiers, iG claimed the only ticket to the event from the coming from the open brackets and by taking down Team Zero twice in the closed qualifiers.
Invictus Gaming are the second team to qualify for the ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 after Team Liquid claimed last night the first ticket up for grabs in Western Europe. China has only one spot allocated and will fight for the title with a total of two teams: Azure Ray, who received a direct invite and Invictus Gaming, the regional qualifiers victors.
