Team Liquid are first to claim a ticket to ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023
Team Liquid are heading to ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 after an undefeated run in the Western Europe qualifiers.
Mere weeks after The International 2023 concluded in Seattle. The teams are back in lobbies fighting for qualifier spots to the next event. Despite the Dota Pro Circuit being discontinued. This year has one of the shortest breaks between TI and the new season.
ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 regional qualifiers began nearly two weeks after the pinnacle Dota 2 tournament, and even before all teams were ready to announce their rosters. Some decided to skip this first tournament after TI12 entirely and haven’t announced their line-ups yet. Some were quick in realigning and getting ready for the new season.
Fresh off a top 6 finish in Seattle,
And are also entering the new season with a new offlaner as Ludwig “zai” Wåhlberg took an indefinite competitive break. His place was taken by Neta “33” Shapira who came from a pretty much fully disbanded Tundra roster.
33’s former organisation is skipping the start of the new season and while Tundra are yet to announce their intentions for 2024. The TI11 champion is already set for a trip to Malaysia. Liquid are the first WEU team to claim a spot at the last tournament of the year. They’ve done it in a dominant fashion taking down 2-0 D2 Hustlers, Team Tickles, and Entity in the upper bracket rounds.
Due to Team Spirit’s withdrawal, Western Europe received two qualifier slots and will head with a total of three teams to Kuala Lumpur. Gaimin Gladiators received a direct invite to the event. Team Liquid are joining them as top seed from WEU and one more team will follow from the lower bracket finals. Team Secret, OG and Entity are left to battle it for the remaining slot. The WEU qualifiers will be done and dusted later today, so stay tuned for further updates.
