TSM win in SA to round up ESL One Kuala Lumpur teams
TSM made a valiant comeback against nouns to secure their ticket to ESL One Kuala Lumpur through North America, as Wawitas Sagazes prevailed from South America.
It’s a new Dota 2 season. The rosters are still solidifying, everyone is getting used to the new format of the season devoid of the DPC Leagues, and there is a balance patch on the way. In the midst of all that, the qualifications for the first premier tournament of the 2023-2024 Dota 2 season are done and dusted.
The last two regions left to qualify for ESL One Kuala Lumpur were North America and South America. we now have the teams that will be representing the Americas in Malaysia. While the newly formed Wawitas Sagazes will be the lone South American team at the event. TSM made it through the upper bracket, while Wawitas Sagazes had to step down and come back to stake their claim for the South American spot.
TSM took on nouns in the grand final of the NA qualifiers. They had defeated the nouns 2-1 in the upper bracket final, but it was expected that these two would be the ones fighting it out in the grand final.
nouns took game 1 in 51 minutes. If you thought game 1 was long, game 2 was the perfect candidate for a ‘hold my beer’ meme. The game lasted for 106 minutes! It could have gone either way, with the net worth difference swaying wildly in either direction. There were Divine Rapiers and Gems of True Sight strewn all over the place. nouns managed to win the decisive fight, and went on to finish the game, catching TSM without buybacks.
It can be so difficult to come back from two losses in two long games. But that’s where the top teams show their character, which is what TSM did. They came back strong in the third game to win it, and carried the momentum ahead to reverse sweep nouns 3-2.
